Wine Wasn’t the Answer: How I Found Wellness in Tea (and Founded PlanTea)

Founder & Brand Story

I am Renata, the tea sommelier and founder of PlanTea. As a wine enthusiast who once found joy working as a sommelier in Michelin-starred restaurants, I sought to combine my previous market work experience with the wine expertise I learned. Consequently, I joined a wine import company in Shanghai. While organising events, I discovered that many of our clients, like myself, also experienced the pleasures and pains of alcohol consumption.

Meanwhile, hoping to use natural ingredients to alleviate the discomfort of hangovers, I turned to my favourite herbal teas as a natural remedy. Thus, the idea for PlanTea was born.

Beyond addressing hangover-related discomfort, I aspire to assist individuals in resolving other potential health issues in their lives, such as eye dryness from long time computer use or headaches due to poor blood circulation. Additionally, herbal teas can be a proactive measure for overall health.

Choosing the right herbal tea, however, can be a challenge. Unlike other herbal teas, I envision providing consumers with a novel approach: personalised tea plans based on individual health conditions and needs. This approach aims to enhance well-being and make the body healthier with every sip. “Let’s drink for good!”

Why do we call it PlanTea? Our tea plans are more than just about tea; they are a code for a healthier body. Just as we all have numerous Plan A’s in our lives, we envision that in the future, when people think of PlanTea, they’ll associate it with “the best plan for your health.”

As we all know, the UK has a traditional culture of tea for centuries, and it has diverse people who always welcome new things. So, I think it would be great to bring some new inspiration to integrate with traditional UK tea culture since it still has the potential market to develop.

From Frustration to Fluency – How Camila’s BeLingual is Revolutionising Language Learning

Let’s be honest…none of us enjoyed learning languages at school right? Trying to both understand and learn how to speak or write in another language in such a formal setting just doesn’t work for everyone. Trying to cram before a test, with a focus on grammar and memorisation instead of communication or conversing with an inflexible curriculum that doesn’t align with everyone’s individual learning styles.

Enter Camila – she fell in love with teaching others how to converse, get and immerse themselves in both the culture and language of another country. Because that’s how she was able to become fluent in other languages herself.

Waste not want not – how UDE Engineering LTD is on a mission to make a difference from our waste

Before we go into Burhan’s incredible business story I would love to share a quote from him that hugely resonates with us all:

‘There is nothing impossible in this life – if you want to do something only you are there to stop yourself. If you have a dream to become an astronaut to travel to the moon then you CAN do it. At the end of the day we are all humans, we have been made the same. So just go and do it’

He gives this advice to everyone – people that he meets, his own children…a solid and memorable mantra.

Growing up in a family that loves to cook and bake, the kitchen was always a fun space for me. I would always find myself cooking and baking with my mother and grandmother when she visits us. I do also love sweets and chocolate.

I remember telling my parents when I was really young that when I grow up I wanted to have a chocolate factory one day, due to my chocolate obsession.
